Frostgrave for Pulp 40k

I picked up a set of Frostgrave cultists because I want to build some cultist gangs for my pulp 40k project. I ummed and ahhed about buying them: I was worried they'd be too small for 40k. Finally I decided they were worth the risk. See what you think.
Stock Frostgrave figure with a GW flagellant head, a cultist star and a scratchbuilt artificial eye.
And here he is lined up with his authentic GW cultist mates.

Definitely smaller, but I reckon he still fits. And certainly once they're spread out on the table the difference will disappear. What may be trickier is giving these guys GW weapons. His hands are definitely more delicate than the thuggish GW ones. Anyway, that will be my next project: this guy was meant to be the super simple proof of concept. Next one will be toting a laspistol or a chainsword.

  1. Hmmm, most interesting! They are definitely a deal with the proper bits, good to know! You certainly made him look as part of the group!

    1. Thanks Suber. Yes, I grabbed them because they are a good deal, with plenty of bits. And with only a little modification, they fit right in. They are on the smaller side, but that's just fine for swarming gangs of expendables.

  2. If you need smaller hands with guns, check out Heresy miniatures. Hasslefree also have figures that tend to be on the small side and also produce sprues of Sci Fi weapons.

    1. That's a good idea, thanks. From memory, Heresy has some good looking weaponry.

  3. Brilliant! I think they look just fine together - but I'm not particularly fussy about these things. Sure upon closer scrutiny, up-close-like you can see one is slightly smaller. But on the tabletop when they're all mixed up together who's going to notice such a small difference. Not me!

    1. Thanks Tim. Agreed: they're on the table, you really won't notice.

  4. I think in some ways he is better sized than the cultists, which as I recall are pretty large. All of the 40k humans really need to be a bit smaller to make Space Marines, Orks and the like look as big as they are supposed to be (or at least closer).

    1. Yes, good point - they are hulking figures. In the grim darkness of the far future, there are only 'roids!

    1. Glad it's helpful! It's nice when a blog post has a shelf life of more than a week! I keep meaning to make more of these, some with 40k weapons, but it never quite gets to the top of the to-do list.
